A Sweet Birthday Photoshoot Idea: 4-Year-Old Twins at an Austin Candy Shop
There are photo sessions where everything is perfectly styled…and then there are sessions like this - full of color, movement, sugar, and actual fun. For these 4-year-old twins, we skipped the traditional setup and headed to a classic candy shop on South Congress in downtown Austin. And honestly? It doesn’t get much more “childhood” than this.
Have the Session Somewhere Fun
Sometimes the best way to get natural smiles (and zero resistance) is simple: pick a place your kids would beg to go anyway. A candy shop = built-in excitement, bright colors, things to explore, and a million little moments happening organically. No forcing or bribing. Just letting them be kids. I’ve never see kids so excited to do a photo shoot! 😆
Let Them Lead
At this age, especially with multiples, control is overrated. We let them:
pick their treats
wander the aisles
react to everything around them
That’s where the magic is.
It Doesn’t Have to Be “Perfect” to Be Beautiful
A little chaos? Good. Sticky fingers? Even better. These are the moments that actually feel like your kids right now, and those are the ones worth remembering.
A Quick Note on Location
Yes—this was at a real, working candy shop on South Congress. I always recommend:
calling ahead to ask about timing
going during slower hours
being respectful of the space (and yes… buying some treats 🍭)
They were incredibly accommodating, and it made the whole experience easy and fun.
Worried Your Kids Won’t Cooperate?
You’re not alone. And honestly… they don’t need to. This kind of session works because kids are moving, exploring, and doing their own thing.
